Thanks to the great idea that some people on the #boost IRC channel in FreeNode proposed, (thanks to heller, mjcaisse, for the prodding and the ideas) I've started a Google Map to show where in the world Boost Users are -- please feel free to add yourself and your location and maybe connect with other Boost Users in your area! You can add yourself to the map from here: http://goo.gl/RbmNq -- it might require that you log in using your Google account for you to add your location to the list. Please add yourself to the map and be counted -- show how well Boost is used around the world! Excuse my ignorance, but how to make it showing the name instead of the location address?
This is what I did: (1) Clicked on the link above [http://goo.gl/RbmNq] [2] I assume you have google account and are signed in. Otherwise get google account, sign in. (3) In the left frame: Top-right click the [edit] button. (4) In the main frame: Move/zoom to your location on earth. (5) Right click on your location on earth. (6) Choose [Add a placemark] from the menu that pops up. (7) Now a window pops up. (8) Enter <your name> as Title Enter a description, if desired (9) In the left frame: Click on [Done]. That's a great question Eric, from the outset I don't think there's an easy way to do that. But, I can imagine someone writing something that interfaces with both Google Latitude, takes data about you, and then talks to the Google Maps API and then changes your entry in your behalf. ;) Of course that's a lot more work than maybe just picking a place that you feel like calling "home" and then putting a pin for you where that is. :D -- Dean Michael Berris about.me/deanberris
