As you investigate extending xml_iarchive to add this functionality, you may find it helpful to look at another example of extending xml_iarchive. In the Boost Vault, serialization/skip_xml_iarchive.zip extends xml_iarchive to of ignore unexpected xml elements. Though it does not handle comments, it may be sufficiently similar to your needs to justify glancing at its approach. -- Todd Greer
