variant has N(T1)+N(T2)+...+N(Tn) valid values, whereas tuple has N(T1)*N(T2)*...*N(Tn) valid values, where N(T) is the number of valid values T has. It follows that variant<> has zero valid values, whereas tuple<> has one.
