Literally almost every Boost user on Linux does that (unless they compile Boost from source themselves). System Boost is typically compiled with default compiler settings, which could mean C++03 or C++11 (or perhaps C++14) depending on compiler version. Applications, meanwhile, will often explicitly select an alternate version.
