I would prefer avoiding the phrase "fixed-width floats".

In http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg21/docs/papers/2013/n3626.pdf we eventually decided to call them 'specified width' floating-point types. This covers both built-in float, double and long double, and other longer (or shorter) for example using Boost.Multiprecision. Paul --- Paul A.
