What is the problem using the Boost version that worked with your compiler?

Not getting updates (new features/fixes for known/yet-unknown issues). And then there is the question of morality. There already exists an *implicit*, dare I say *natural* test that decides whether a compiler is supported or not (on a per-library or even per-library-feature basis -- and this paranthesis is important). Why should we draw *artificial* lines in a centralized manner ? And on what basis do we draw those lines ?
