Migrating svn.boost.org
Hi, This time I would like to setup a schedule to migrate svn.boost.org to the new server (wowbagger.crest.iu.edu). This migration may need some downtime on the subversion, trac, and svnmanager services because we do not want to have any inconsistencies in SVN and or trac database. I have already rsynched the 1) boost SVN repository including its hook script, 2) trac db, and 3) SVNManager and its database. Do you have any hidden processes to manage the subversion repository, trac, or SVNManager? I implemented some simple testings with some SVN activities on the new server and it seems to work fine. Can anyone volunteer to play with the migrated SVN repository, trac, and SVNManager on the new server? I can test the very basic stuff and I may miss some functionalities of the current services. If anyone who actually work on the boost project can check this out, it would be much appreciated. I would feel much safer. 1. The downtime that we may have while migrating svn.boost.org I expect that TTL value be changed to 1hour or so. While the new DNS entries are populated, the current server will NOT service svn.boost.org and the new server will instead. - Date: Wednesday June 5th, 2013 - Time: 11:00am-12:00pm Pacific US time 12:00pm-1:00pm Mountain US time 1:00pm-2:00pm Central US time 2:00pm-3:00pm Eastern US time 6:00pm-7:00pm GMT 2. The unavailable services hosted on svn.boost.org : - Subversion - trac - SVNManager 3. The DNS entries to update: - Make svn.boost.org and wiki.boost.org point to 129.79.13.33 Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this migration. Regards, -- - DongInn

That seems like an OK date to me.. Since on the 3rd we are doing the beta release and hence should be done with the critical SVN usage. -- -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com -- 102708583/icq - grafikrobot/aim - grafikrobot/yahoo

We might want to post a notice on the developer, user, and announce lists, too. Once the changes are made, folks should check that a ping of svn.boost.org yields 129.79.13.33. As long as it yields 129.79.245.252, they are getting a stale IP address. --Beman
Hi, This is a friendly reminder. We will move svn.boost.org and its related services to the new server machine tomorrow (2:00PM, E.T., June 5th, 2013). Beman, can you please stay with me on-line during the migration?

Well, it seems the bug tracker gets a lot of spam. svn itself is up and working. Yours, Jürgen -- * Dipl.-Math. Jürgen Hunold ! juergen.hunold@gmx.eu * voice: 0049 4257 300 ! Fährstraße 1 * fax : 0049 4257 300 ! 31609 Balge/Sebbenhausen * mobil: 0049 178 186 1566 ! Germany
Hi,
I am sorry for the spam tickets. I just noticed that the spamfilter plugin was missing and it is added now.
I hope that it blocks the spam properly as it used to be.

Yes, Paul.
The admin users of the boost trac should be able to delete the tickets but I am wondering if you are in the admin group.
If you don't mind, I can delete them all.

I think I just have normal write access, so please delete for me. Paul
I just would like to make sure that they are the spam tickets before I delete them all.
I am going to delete the ticket from #8653 to #8672 which seem to have nothing to do with boost.
Are you guys OK with this?
